Firefly Field – Studio Toer

Firefly Field is a hypnotic light installation made up of many flying light spots which simulate the movements of fireflies.

A picture of light that draws curiosity.

Firefly Field is a hypnotic light installation made up of many flying light spots which simulate the movements of fireflies (lampyridae). Gathered together, they create a dynamic picture of light that draws visitors’ curiosity and creates astonishment. This minimalist arrangement is made up of LED light spots lodged in transparent capsules supported by rods of steel that are hardly visible and give each firefly its unpredictable and natural movement.

Toer is a multidisciplinary design studio from the Netherlands, founded in 2011 by Castor Bours and Wouter Widdershoven. With their innovative and experimental approach, they push back the technical and aesthetic limits of design through a broad range of applied arts.
